Lukas is an illustrator, designer, and world-builder inspired by the hand hewn past. In his life and in his work he seeks magic, which he believes to exist, even still in a world that has long forgotten it. Nature is what guides Lukas, and what he wishes to celebrate and defend in all that he does. There are few things he finds more beautiful than the crumbling, mossy walls of antiquity as they are reclaimed by nature, taken back into the land they once rose out of, their tales immortal as they sink beneath the soil. In Lukas’ work he imagines the world as it was when these walls still stood, and what the Earth might look like had it always been inhabited by people who cared for it. He finds stories, and weaves them in with his own. He brings this world, and these stories, to life through dip pen, ink, and watercolor in works inspired by the great etchings of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. Lukas desires to create works that look as though they have come from the past, but which have a meaningful place in the present.
